SUMMARY:Are You on Track for Retirement? Meeting the Goal of Living Off of Your Savings
DESCRIPTION:The Miami-Dade Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (MDGLCC)\, in partnership with SAGE (Services and Advocacy for GLBT Elders)\, will host New York Times bestselling author Tom Anderson for "The Value of Debt: Building a Glide Path Into Retirement". On the heels of the release of his new book\, The Value of Debt in Retirement\, Anderson will discuss the unique financial challenges facing the LGBT community and provide advice on how they can get on track for retirement. The free event is geared toward members of the LGBT community preparing for and in retirement. \n\n\n\n"It is an honor to join with SAGE and the Miami-Dade Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce to highlight the key financial challenges facing the LGBT community as they enter into retirement\," said Anderson. With continually changing laws impacting the LGBT community\, it is critically important to have a comprehensive\, holistic plan to leave the greatest legacy possible. In many circumstances\, estate planning can be especially complicated for LGBT individuals. In order to get there\, debt can be a powerful tool to help increase return\, lower taxes\, and reduce risk in retirement.\n\n\n\nIn his remarks\, Anderson will share some of the strategies featured in The Value of Debt in Retirement. Debunking the myth that all debt is damaging\, Anderson will share how individuals can use debt strategically to add value to their financial goals like many of the nation?s most successful companies and ultra-high-net-worth individuals do every day. In one of the few personal finance books that specifically addresses LGBT concerns\, he walks through how these strategies can impact areas such as health care\, family structure\, and philanthropy. Since its release on March 16\, The Value of Debt in Retirement has been featured by the New York Times\, CNBC\, Fox Business\, Forbes\, and the Washington Post. \n\n\n\nAbout Tom Anderson\n\nTom Anderson has his MBA from the University of Chicago and a B.S.B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis.
